CEREC ® is a system for the fabrication of all ceramic dental restorations in one office visit. With CEREC, you can be in and out in a single visit with a permanent, all ceramic crown, onlay, or veneer! This means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your schedule for dental care. This same technology and materials are also used by some of the best labs in the country to create crowns and bridges.
Traditional restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia. Your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary removed, and have a permanent restoration put on.
We don’t want you to waste another minute of your precious time. We have invested in CEREC technology to give you the finest restorations more quickly. With CEREC, the procedure is completed in a single appointment, start to finish.
The materials used in CEREC are beautiful and tremendously long lasting. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. And because these restorations are created of porcelain and sculpted to fit your tooth, they produce a natural chewing surface and block bacteria. They are compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive, plaque resistant and are so natural and beautiful they blend with your own teeth giving you the bright, broad smile you always wanted.
To produce a CEREC crown or other restoration, Dr. Fitch will first image the damaged tooth by painting a thin layer of reflective powder directly on the tooth's surface. Using a special camera, a picture is taken of the tooth and Dr. Fitch will complete the design using this pin-sharp optical impression of the tooth. Computer Aided Design technology aids in the design of the restoration from the optical impression. You can actually watch your new restoration being fashioned on a full-color computer monitor right before your eyes. Then Computer Aided Manufacturing creates an extremely precise restoration. A high-speed diamond bur mills the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. Finally, the newly milled restoration is bonded to the tooth using a state-of-the-art adhesive. This CEREC restoration can be performed in a single session. It is incredible!
